Wichita Mountains Campout Photo Gallery

The Spring Youth Campout at the Witchita Mountains National Wildlife Reserve near Lawton, OK was a wonderful experience. We have prepared this gallery of the weekend so those of you who weren’t able to come along can get a taste of the beauty of the area, and those of you who were there may like to download pictures of you and your friends. The pictures were either taken by Julie Shurley or David Arbour. The slide show starts with our hike up Baldy Mountain Sabbath morning. After lunch we went to see the buffalo and prairie dogs and then on to Mount Scott, the highest point in the Witchitas. Sabbath evening vespers was held at beautiful Treasure Lake. Sunday we went on a four hour hike through Charon Gardens. It is hard to get the perspective on just how huge the rock formations are from the photos. As an example, we caught sight of someone rappelling down a rocky cliff that is seen in the background of the next photo where it looks like a little rock on the hill behind! There will be a full report on the weekend in the next Bugle, so stay tuned.
