History of the formation of the Mid America
Sisterhood of Churches In September 2000, a group of representatives from about eight home and
independent churches of Seventh-day Adventist believers in the states of
Arkansas, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Kansas met together to discuss the
need for a cohesive network for these groups of people who, for
conscience sake could no longer fellowship in their local conference
churches.
It was seen as the first priority to determine that we held the same
beliefs in common. To safeguard against the various winds of doctrine in
the home church movement such as feast day keeping, no Holy Spirit,
Oneness Theology, God doesn't kill, Futurism, Sacred Name, etc., we
undertook to outline a Summary of Doctrinal Beliefs.
Over the ensuing years this sisterhood has come together regularly to
work on developing a functioning network based on Gospel Order as
outlined in the New Testament, and to define our purpose, mission, and
working policies. Though the process has not always been a smooth one,
we have seen the Lord's blessing and leading of His Holy Spirit. The
result of this Sisterhood of Churches has been a greater unity with one
another, a more organized effort for evangelism, and the blessing of
having yearly Camp Meetings and other convocations.
